non ho parole per descrivere questo libro, penso sia da leggere tutto d’un fiato。 spero solo che in un altro universo patrick e tom siano insieme, in pace, a venezia。

5/5 I don’t usually get emotional over books but this one just got me sucked right in with it’s plot and what happened just broke me a little。

Best book of 2021 so far! Absolutely heartbreaking, tragic, beautiful, this story is just one I would read and read all over again。 I loved reading about the perspective of Marion and Patrick。 All the characters were flawed, unique, charming in their own way。 Damn this just went up to one of my favorite books of all time!

What happened in between? Wouldn't have been better instead if the three of them would have reunited after Patrick left jail? And if Roberts really wanted to keep the "Marion taking care of Patrick" angle, she could have made that Patrick needed to recover after being beaten up in jail。 Written the way it is, I don't understand why after all those years not only Tom didn't contact Patrick, but also why didn't divorce Marion。 Or even why she didn't! It is clear that she wasn't happy and I imagine that after a while, she must have come to terms with the fact that Tom would have never changed。 Again, the framing devices she chose made more arm than good to the story。 。。。more

I really liked this book。。。I think if I wasn’t a teacher then I might not have connected with the main character as much。

DUM de, goes my heart。 A tragic love story。 Felt the pain。 It's so good that it breaks my heart。 I've already had high expectations and it did not disappoint。 One of the best I've read this 2021 so far。 DUM de, goes my heart。 A tragic love story。 Felt the pain。 It's so good that it breaks my heart。 I've already had high expectations and it did not disappoint。 One of the best I've read this 2021 so far。 。。。more

Read this because I'm currently on the Harry Styles side of tiktok which also comes with the Larry Stylinson trope。 The internet says Harry will be casted as Tom, and that it will probably released in 2022? not sure。 But anyway, it was such a lovely read。 I loved every bit of it。 I loved the way the narrative was delivered, the way grit and gentleness coexisted in its prose。 (also, a part of me wonders why it's not "Our Policeman" since they did, share Tom, but I guess "My Policeman" works too, Read this because I'm currently on the Harry Styles side of tiktok which also comes with the Larry Stylinson trope。 The internet says Harry will be casted as Tom, and that it will probably released in 2022? not sure。 But anyway, it was such a lovely read。 I loved every bit of it。 I loved the way the narrative was delivered, the way grit and gentleness coexisted in its prose。 (also, a part of me wonders why it's not "Our Policeman" since they did, share Tom, but I guess "My Policeman" works too, because Tom was never really Marion's。) 。。。more

If it's more focus on the later years after Patrick was liberated or how Tom lived through all these years。 I feel like we could have very well done without Alice's tantrums or some other useless description and maybe give more light on Julia! She deserved more。 。。。more

This book had a compelling plot and writing, but I didn't like the way it ended。Also, Tom is such a terrible character。 I don't know what they see in him that they couldn't leave behind, especially Marion。 Tsk。 This book had a compelling plot and writing, but I didn't like the way it ended。Also, Tom is such a terrible character。 I don't know what they see in him that they couldn't leave behind, especially Marion。 Tsk。 。。。more

“I suspect you know about desire, about the way it grows when it’s denied, better than anyone”I would like to thank Harry Styles for introducing me to this beauty。 At no point during this was I bored or uninterested in the story。 Also, the cover, absolutely stunning。 It definitely helped being able to picture Harry as Tom and I’m so excited to see him do an incredible job in the movie。

This was such a moving, wonderful, but heart-breaking story。 Cannot recommend enough

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I don't even know how to start。 But let's go。First: the writing is just beautiful, english is not my first language and i was just starstruck by how fast i was drawn in to this story。Second: As i read more and more, I just wanted to cry honestly, the fact that even if it's fiction it seems so real, like this book might be fiction but I'm certain that this happened to a lot of people back in the day and unfortunately even today, having to hide who you truly are and who you truly love? That's just I don't even know how to start。 But let's go。First: the writing is just beautiful, english is not my first language and i was just starstruck by how fast i was drawn in to this story。Second: As i read more and more, I just wanted to cry honestly, the fact that even if it's fiction it seems so real, like this book might be fiction but I'm certain that this happened to a lot of people back in the day and unfortunately even today, having to hide who you truly are and who you truly love? That's just heartbreaking for me。Third: Fuck, how much anger did this book gave me。 Having to read from the perspective of the lovers of Tom was something i had not expected, at least both of them。The narration of Marion, just destroyed me, all she wanted was to be loved by this man, but he couldn't love her the way she wanted。The narration of Patrick was so beautiful written in the most heartbreaking way, all he wanted was to live with the love of his life, a man he encountered in an oddly way, a few years i guess after the death of another man he also loved very deeply。A love they couldn't leave because of this dreadfully, judgmental society that unfortunately continues to this day。Tom was the character that made me more furious, but maybe it's because we didn't get to see his side of the story, he was only presented to us by the eyes of the other two characters。 But man, the way that only in the last days of Patrick's life did he finally get the courage to at least be by his side made me so mad。I just finished this book, crying my eyes out。I think that what made this book so outstanding to me is the realness of it all, in how in just 300 and so pages we got this all life story about this 3 characters that just wanted to love and to be loved。Patrick: " I have no choice, I know that。 I can pretend she doesn't exist and risk losing him altogether, or I can put myself through the ordeal and keep a crumb of him" - this line reminded me of the song "just a little bit of your heart" written by harry styles, the line: " I heard a little love is better than none"。 This is one of the best books i have ever read。 。。。more
